Last weekend we held our annual spring wedding fair with a little exciting difference. Here at Hodson Bay Hotel, we have created celebrations for over 2,000 weddings in the past 25 years, so we understand February is one of love, romance, new beginnings and wedding proposals. This year our Wedding Team decided to take a fantastically different approach with a Wedding & Food Fair. It was the combination of two of the greatest things, food and weddings. Food the universal language of love and weddings the ultimate celebration bringing loved ones together.
We were excited to welcoming couples from near and far and helping them experience our Wedding setup and food options.
New Look and Feel Wedding Fair
The Wedding Team headed up by our lovely Wedding Co-ordinator, Eimear McKeown created an extravagant event attended by over fifty couples along with their friends and family.
She and the Team had been planning and organising vendors, entertainment, food and drink options and layout design for the weeks building up to the event. Everyone was excited to help create something a little different they hoped couples and families would really enjoy.
Eimear said, “We refreshed our wedding fair with a new private entrance and a Food Quarter where everyone could sample some of our new options for food. We want couples and their families to experience what can be possible. Our wedding packages are just a sample of what is possible. Couples have the option to plan something different with the Wedding Team. We also arranged for lots of top quality wedding suppliers to have stands offering some of the best to choices available to them. We also arranged to have a style of musical entertainment from The Bentley Boys to Athlone’s Brass Quintet to harpist Niamh Columb. Along with the absolutely gorgeous Civil Wedding design in the Lough Ree Suite by I Do Candle Lighting.”

The Day of Our Wedding & Food Fair
Everyone was like busy bees from Sunday morning until the evening ensuring everything for the Wedding & Food Fair ran smoothly.
Zara and Andrew greeted couples who wished to make direct enquiries and avail of a hotel show around.
Andrew and Shannon greeted people on arrival to The Solstice Lounge (the new private entrance for weddings) with our drinks reception.
And as people moved into the newly built Eiscir Riada Lounge, our cocktail mixologist, Mark was on hand to create some delicious fruity cocktails.
The Food Quarter
Our hotel group’s Executive Head Chef, Gavin O’Rourke created a unique wedding food trail with a taste of our locally sourced produce. He also prepared an option to sample our new Hot Picnic evening dining option for weddings, delicious Irish local meats with tasty homemade chunky chips. And for dessert, Pastry Chef Kristen was on on-hand offering samples of some of our mouth-watering chilled fancies.
The Wedding Team chatted with all the couples with questions on the venue, packages, tailored options, food options and all things weddings! It was an exhausting but amazing day. Those who came I want to say thank you. I really hope you had an amazing day out.
There’s something for everyone
